Sterling silver and colored resin jewelry
Katherine has tinted crystal clear resin with color and poured it into sterling silver earrings, pendants and bracelets. With these jewelry pieces, the sterling silver is a reservoir for the colored resin. Each silver piece is created by hand in a series of 18 steps from cutting and fabrication, soldering, casting and finishing. Once the silver piece has been fabricated, the resin is mixed to include color and carefully placed in each piece of silver. After several days to cure, the resin is sanded by hand by 8 different types of sandpaper to achieve the final smooth, matte finish. The silver is further polished to achieve a satin finish and coated with a microcrystalline museum quality wax to ensure the jewelry's long life and wearability.
